Teaching
Welcome to my teaching page. I teach in my home studio in my home town of Hinckley in Leicestershire in the heart of the Midlands. We have a thriving musical scene here, with the best fully amateur theatre in the country-the Concordia Theatre. Many of my pupils sing both principal roles and chorus in the many operas and musicals performed in this theatre and others in the area. I’m also immensely proud of my many pupils who are either studying at musical and theatrical schools in the UK, or are already out and progressing in their professional lives. In addition, I have many professionals who come to Hinckley to work with me.
I love teaching, and take the responsibility for the nurture and development of young voices very seriously. To be entrusted with a young singer’s hopes and dreams is a serious thing. Teaching singing is not like teaching piano or violin. The voice is an internal, unseen instrument. Far too many people set themselves up as a teacher, with a small amount of knowledge. Choices and instructions made by the poorly prepared teacher can have devastating consequences on a singer long term. When choosing a teacher one should take great care, be prepared to ‘audition’ many teachers, and study carefully both the teachers own training and ability and explore who the teacher has already taught. And one certainly should never trust their voices to a piano, wind or string teacher, who also teaches singing!
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch, should you wish to know more. Either via the page below or my telephone 07590 548474
